Next Meeting - Rain Water Harvesting

This weekends meeting will be held on Saturday, 6th June from 1400-1600.  For prospective members or interested people, please drop me an email at the groups email address listed in the sidebar for the address details.

This workshops focus is on how to better utilise rainwater, and how to effectively capture it from your roof.  David Suttie will be giving us the grand tour and explaining how he went about constructing his system.

Should be a great afternoon, so come along and see a real working system in action.  Maybe it will even rain for us!

Kind Regards,

Gavin Webber, President.

MSLG Mozzarella Workshops

by Gavin Webber I find teaching people new skills exciting and very satisfying.  Saturday was no exception.  This workshop was offered to members of the Melton Sustainable Living Group and if we were desperate for numbers, it was going to be open to friends.  However it turned out to be so popular that we had 12 interested members within a week.  I offered my services for free and each student paid $15 to cover organic milk costs and ingredients. As I mentioned in my last post, I split the workshop participants in half, and I taught two back to back mozzarella cheese making workshops, the first from 10am - 12pm, then a break and the next from 2pm - 4pm.  Both classes were fully booked, however we had a late cancellation for the first class. You can see the setup below.  This is the undercover area just at the entrance to the house.  Nice and clean and out of the weather. You can see six small camp stoves, rubber gloves, and clean tea towels to place their utensils onto.

Council Candidates 2020 and their Sustainability Priorities for the City of Melton

Recognising the important role that local governments are playing around the world in tackling our sustainability challenges, we wanted to share the sustainability priorities the City of Melton Councillor candidates. In 2020 we have 37 Melton candidates vying for Councillor positions across our three wards. We invited them to complete our survey, so we can share their positions on this issues with you.  We appreciate the efforts of these locals standing up to represent us, and special thanks to the 17 candidates who have filled out the survey so far (we will update this in the next few days if we get more). We are not endorsing or ranking these candidates - just providing them the opportunity to share their priorities and what sorts of initiatives they will champion if elected. Candidates are listed by ward in the order that they replied to the survey (earliest to latest).   While there are many areas we could focus on, we selected a few priority areas shared by Melton Sustainable Livi
